I had good intentions Sunday. First, I was going to swing by Crate & Barrel for a Wedding Registry event and then on to get a new eyebrow pencil. #Goals. Unfortunately, the weather took an ugly turn and covered the streets and sidewalks with a sheet of ice throughout the night.
Instead, I stayed inside. I cooked breakfast and lunch for the next five days, cleaned up the kitchen, did some laundry and put fresh sheets on our bed. There was even time for a quick little nap. You have no idea how much I love days like this. I have a strong sense of accomplishment. A sense that when I lay down in bed tonight I will rest well.
Weekend Scenes
As like most weekends do, this one was over in the blink of an eye. I traveled to Chicago for work on Friday, and after dinner, I was wiped out. But early nights lead to early mornings, which I absolutely love.
Saturday we celebrated M’s birthday & an early Valentine’s Day. My intention for the day was a fun-filled scavenger hunt & to surprise him with each stop. Remember how I told you I had good intentions. This week was too hectic, so I skipped the scavenger hunt but still kept the surprise until an hour before we left the house for Radiance STL. I had scheduled time in a sauna and also an hour float. I plan on posting about this a bit more in detail in the future. Since this was my first experience with both, I learned a lot of tips I think would be helpful for other first-timers. But I will say this; Radiance STL is where you want to go for your experience!
Saturday night was the second part of the surprise for M. I had gotten everything we needed to make sushi and had invited our friends over to get in on the sushi making action with us. We weren’t the pros we thought we would be, but this ended up being such a great time. I’m delighted with how it all turned out – the heart rolls, the saki, and the company!
Inspiring Me Right Now
I know that there are things in my diet that are making me sluggish and irritating my skin. I’ve always been a bit terrified of the thought of Whole 30, but after my cousin rocked 30+ days of this concept, she’s given me the inspiration I need to do this for myself. Hello Monday, I’m on the Whole30 bandwagon.
On My Nightstand
This one has been on the nightstand awhile, but I’ve anxious to dig more deeply into it. This book came as a recommendation from my friend Misty, and she’s pretty spot on with books and recipes.
Recipes on the Agenda
I wish I had a fun list of recipes I’m going to try this week, however, I wanted to make my first week of Whole30 simple and not overwhelming. My intentions are to stick to the basics for breakfast and lunch. A Healthy Passion makes meal plans for the Whole30 lifestyle, so I’ll be doing that for dinners. I do have three new cookbooks that I’m going to dig through for next week though – I’m thinking one pot dishes and crockpot meals.
