Monday Drive: Museums, Champagne & Dancing

Weekend Scenes

How do I even try to summarize a weekend that was all the things? From museum tours to champagne to the most I’ve danced since college, this was an exceptional weekend.

Here are the highlights:

  • My friends Sarah & Jennie were in town from Kentucky
  • Frank Lloyd Wright home tour in Kirkwood
  • A trip Cherokee Street where we found the best antique store this side of the Mississippi and a quaint coffee house
  • Two vintage clothes shops that make me want to change my style
  • Girl talk over wine, nail polish & Marie Kondo clothes folding
  • Visited Pieces only to realize the wait was an hour, so we had dinner at Bridge. M’s first choice which was an overall win
  • Champagne
  • Jenga, 90s music sing along & a dance party that didn’t stop until 3:30 am
  • Breakfast at Rooster and award-winning (Jennie & my opinion) crepes
  • The Arch, not the full tour but the gorgeous new museum

Inspiring Me Right Now

Driving up the long driveway, I didn’t know what to expect. Until this weekend I hadn’t heard of Frank Lloyd Wright. A short video later, I was caught up and intrigued. I could not wait to get inside and tour the house. The home was a maze designed by Wright for the Kraus family and took ten years to build. Kraus left everything as Wright had intended it, original furniture and bedding were still inside. When I walked in, it felt strangely familiar, and the smell reminded me of my grandparents home. Walking down the hallway of shelves into an open room with a wall of windows, I was utterly fascinated.

The attention to detail, the function, and the sheer design have inspired me to see as many Frank Lloyd Wright homes as I can.

On My Nightstand

I’ll be honest, not progress has been made reading anything this week. Tonight, I do have the Girls Night In newsletter from Friday to read. I usually read this on Saturday morning. It’s the best form of starting your weekend off with new stories and funnies.

Recipes on the Agenda

This week I made a breakfast bowl, and it sounds completely random, but it’s delicious. I put cauliflower rice, roasted sweet potatoes, bacon, and spinach in a bowl. Then I usually add either avocado or salsa to the top. It keeps me full past regular lunchtime, and I’m so much more productive in the morning/early afternoon this way.

For lunch, I made Greek chicken, which I made this past week, and it was terrific. I’ve added it to a bowl with roasted vegetables (red pepper, onion & squash). Something small for lunch is usually my best bet, otherwise, I will be asleep on my keyboard.
