It’s Not Goodbye, It’s See Ya Later

My grandparent’s house is being sold this weekend. While I’m sad that it’s the end of an era, I’m excited that another family will get to make memories in this special house. I spent a lot of time at my grandparents over summers and weekends growing up. I have so many good memories but these are the ones that have stood out the most:

Hiding in the bathroom closet during games of Hide and Go Seek with my Grandpa

Carving my name in literally everything, because I saw my dad’s initials in the dresser

Eating pizza for every meal

Milkshakes being made on the regular

Granny’s afternoon snack of a big tomato sliced on a plate

Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy every night

My grandpa cleaning the kitchen every night after we went to bed

Endless games of rummy

Dressing up in Granny’s nightgowns, pretending I was a princess

New Years Eve and ginger ale and dancing

Playing Barbies underneath the end tables and imagining they lived in a huge castle

Jumping across the creek, until someone would fall in

Tie Dying t-shirts being a family affair & using the water hose to remove the extra ink

Walking to church every Sunday morning with Granny to help out with Sunday school

Using a hairdryer to pretend to catch speeders going around the block

Pulling the buds off the magnolia tree in the front yard and pretending to “cook them” as green beans

Her jewelry box, the white stools and all the tea cups

Playing bank and flower shop and grocery store and completely tearing up the entire house

Helping with Christmas tree decorations and having to add so many more strands of lights, because it wasn’t lit up enough

The twin beds and slumber parties with my cousin
