Monday Drive: I-64 East

Weekend Scenes

An unplanned trip to Lexington, “home” warmed my soul this past weekend. I didn’t realize it, in all the hustle and bustle, but I was missing home. I missed my friends and family, and I missed Story and Coffee Times. It was simple; home was calling me so I loaded up my car and headed East on I-64.

Saturday was an action-packed day. Too much coffee & multiple laps around the Arboretum without one second of silence. That evening the girl gang got together for dinner. We sat around the table playing a game of questions. I’ve not laughed this hard in a while.

On Sunday, I set the alarm early so I could grab a cup of my cousin’s famous French Press coffee before I met my parents for lunch. I saw the sunrise. I am honestly not sure if I have ever seen the sun come up, and I’ve decided that on weekends I’m going to make more of a point to look for it. How peaceful to sit with a cup of coffee, the quiet of the world and the sun making a grand entrance.

On My Nightstand

I’d be lying if I said that I have a new book on the nightstand this week. I’m still reading Gretchen Rubin’s Outer Order, Inner Calm. If I’m feeling stumped at work, or I am feeling a bit agitated, I find myself organizing. Cleaning up my desk or the office makes me feel back to normal. Who knew other people in the world were like this?! I’m so thankful to read this book to get some different ways to calm my inner self down.

Audible was my copilot on my trip to Kentucky – on the way I listed to Food Freedom Forever. This book is apart of the Whole30 group, and I was hoping it would help me with the reintroduction phase. It’s so hard to listen to something where you want to take notes and can’t because you’re driving. I also felt like a lot of what was in this book was so similar to the books. I’d recommend keeping your money on this one but investing in the original Whole30 book instead.
